'Live Life
Empowered' Campaign to Launch at Annual Fundraising Dinner!
We're gearing up for a stellar year to make even greater inroads toward
ending the cycle of abuse.
You can be a part of it!
‘Live Life Empowered’ is modeled after the the Alpha
House program. We work with women and children to heal the past and succeed
in the future. It is focused around four pillars of living life
empowered:
1. Recognize
Statistics Canada published that “Fifty one per cent of women in
Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual
violence since the age of 16”1 and that, ”Every year in
Canada, up to 360,000 children are exposed to domestic violence”2
Abuse is happening and it is wrong.
Improve programs and
services for women and children while at Alpha House.
2.
Respect
We all have intrinsic value in the world and deserve to live free of
fear and intimidation.
Ensure the Alpha
House is well maintained and families feel secure, safe and welcome
throughout their transition.
3.
Act
To affect positive change we need to act proactively
toward achieving the goal of breaking the cycle of abuse.
Increase the
success rate of graduates from the program and go on to live free of
abuse and intimidation.
4.
Believe
Together we can affect positive change!
Kate, a former resident of Alpha House,
is living life free of abuse today because she had the courage to
live life empowered.
“During my time at Alpha House I have
learned many things and I have benefited so very much personally
from my time spent here. When I first came to Alpha House I honestly
had nowhere else to go and I was completely without hope for the
future.
That has since changed, I now have a place of my own and I am
beginning my degree in Education at the University of Winnipeg in
September. Alpha House was an integral part of my process in regards
to turning my life around as there are many programs that make up
this organization.”
“The Children’s program gave me, as well as my child, solid
direction and perspective on a regular basis. As many parents know
the relationship between parent and child is never that of an easy
one. Abuse in the home is very destructive and children of any age
have many difficulties to overcome as a result. It was here I built
back my child’s trust and began to clearly see what it is to be a
Mother.” Read Kate's full story.
We understand that the more positive
momentum we build around Alpha House the more success stories we can
celebrate. Now is the time to create an even greater impact on the
empowerment of women and children.
You are invited to join the ‘Live Life Empowered’
Campaign.
