Annual Dinner 2006 a Great Success!

Our 13th Annual dinner at The Fort Garry Hotel on Thursday, November 2, 2006 was another successful one. The dinner raised over 30% more than the previous year. Those funds will go directly toward improving the House and programs for women and their children.

Janet Stewart hosted an absolutely magical evening that we all enjoyed and we thank her for being such a strong supporter of Alpha House. Other highlights of the evening included:

• A poignant speech by a previous resident who has successfully started a new life with a very bright future

• The official unveiling of our new logo and website

• A new initiative called the "Pots of Empowerment Project", where current and previous residents (women and their children) volunteered to paint flower pots depicting their experiences, which were then drawn as door prizes for guests at the dinner. The pots were all beautiful and inspirational.

We were very pleased to see lots of new faces at this year's dinner. We appreciate that there were two businesses who purchased tables and the feedback from both groups was very positive. We are also very pleased to see more men coming out and supporting Alpha House.
